Castlefarm produces dairy, tillage, eggs, beef, pork, eggs, cheese, vegetables and seasonal preserves. School tours, organic allotments, gardening and cookery classes take place on the farm regularly.
Peter and Jenny are the fourth generation of Youngs at Castlefarm. They think it is important for people to understand where their food really comes from. Castlefarm took its name from the top field (The Castle field) in which a castle once stood. As a child Peter’s father John used to uncover old coins and horses teeth that had been turned up with the sod during ploughing in the Castle field. During dry weather the foundations of the castle could be clearly seen. Unfortunately there are no remains on the ground any more.
Castlefarm has been certified organic since October 2009. This means no chemicals, no sprays, no gmo’s, just natural farming and happy, healthy animals.
